We’ll try and embed two galleries below.
1) We’ll use the visual wizard to insert the EmbedPlus YouTube channel as a playlist. By just adding &layout=gallery to the code, we’ll get a gallery.
2) For another example, we’ll add the Billboard Top Songs for 2015 playlist as a gallery. Remember the instructions for how to embed a playlist. The steps are listed on the plugin settings page if you’ve forgotten.
We’ll just add &layout=gallery to the playlist link to turn it into a gallery embed code. The WordPress visual editor might convert the link to a playlist preview, so you might have to switch to text mode to see the link and add &layout=gallery to the end of it. Remember that you can always use the shortcode to prevent the visual editor from showing a preview.
YouTube has a little known parameter that could be added to each embed code to enforce same origin security. As YouTube puts it: “including it protects against malicious third-party JavaScript being injected into your page and hijacking control of your YouTube player.” This plugin can now automatically enforce same origin with the click of a button.
We’ll embed the video below and preview the page without the plugin’s origin feature active and then with it. There are no differences in the appearance and operation of the YouTube player; however, you’ll see a slight but important difference in the embed code when the page source is shown. This will confirm that your embeds are protected from CSS type hijacks.
This site will be used to illustrate how to embed in WordPress widget areas. For this video, the sidebars of the Twenty Fourteen theme will be used.
We will first show what happens when you try and paste a YouTube link in a text widget *without* the YouTube plugin activated. You’ll see that the actual embed does not show up until the plugin is activated.
The automatic auto-fit (aspect ratio) feature of the YouTube plugin is also illustrated.
